The people of Cyprus believe that Değirmenlik village water comes from Anadolu.
A man from Anadolu who travelled around the world to sell mill stones. His path got crossed with the Değirmenlik village and the most famous miller of that time. When the man reached the village, he saw a wooden boat. He took a good careful look at the boat and was curious about it. So, the miller of Değirmenlik village asked:
– Miller: “Hi, why you keep looking at the boat?!”
– The man: “I’m looking at it because this boat is mine.”
Of course, he was even more curious and amazed.
-Miller: “Are you sure this is your boat? The boat has been here for 15 years. How it can be yours?”
-The man: “Why do you think it’s yours? Where did you get it from? Besides, you said 15 years and I lost this boat 15 years ago.”
Miller started to get angry.
-Miller: “Hey man! You came to visit this place and now you claim that this is your boat.”
-The man: No, don’t get angry. This boat is mine, if you don’t believe me turn the boat upside down and there is a stopper there. Also, İf you look careful you can see that the bottom of the boat is not there. And inside when you open it, there are gold.
When the man turns the boat upside down, he saw the stopper and he opened it. He was in shocked when he saw the gold. The visitor took the golds but he left the boat to the man.
The man was worried that the visitor is going to take the boat too. But the visitor took the gold and gave few golds to the man too.
And the traveler left the boat as a remembrance. How did it get there? That means the water travels it to Değirmenlik. ‘Look at this, no one can eat other people fortune’ he said , he walked off and was gone.
